Our Sunday Evening (April 9th)
On the way back to Yuanlin after our delicious dinner, Julia told us that her friends in Changhua had invited us over for an afternoon beer. GREAT! We needed to cool down. Julia said that we had to give them a bit of time to get ready before we arrived so we went back to her parents place and hung out for a little while. We met their brother and his girlfriend while we were there. They both seemed very nice.
Then it was off to Changhua. We had seen photos of Julias friends that we were going to meet, Joy and Kerry as Julia had travelled to the U.K. with them the previous year. We arrived at Joy's house and it was so nice (and big...5 stories for 1 person!). Definitely the nicest Taiwanese home we've been in yet. It was very new and modern, she had an awesome western kitchen, and beautiful leather furniture. It was all so welcoming. Kerry is actually Julie's sister in-law, and we have assumed Joy's best friend. Both Kerry and Joy made us feel right at home and were fantastic hosts. They offered us our first Taiwanese beer - it totally hit the spot.
Joy and Kerry had just returned from a vacation to Venice, and they shared some delicious chocolates, wafers, and a chocolate liquer from their trip. It was all so delicious. We hung out and talked a while. Joy and Kerry travel to a new place four times each year (oh a life we'd love to have)! They spoke really good English and we totally enjoyed their company and hospitality. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
After our visit there it was time to head home. We were both feeling totally exhausted and were glad to get home and get some rest.
We met so many wonderful people, were shown such generous hospitality and saw so many beautiful places. It was truly a wonderful weekend - and what a change from our boring weekends in Homei.
