May 14th-19th A week in review

#1. Here we are enjoying some scrumptious meals with Michelle and Molly. Alwasy a good time.

#2. Deep fried tofu with seaweed. Just a little appetizer before the meal. Tastes better than it sounds.

Sunday, May 14th:
We went to Chunghua, walked around enjoyed some milk tea drinks with pearl. It's like a cold green tea drink with milk and cream and tapiocca balls. It may sound gross but it's our new addiction. Known in Canada as Bubble Tea. A big drink is only $20NT, which is only 71 cents in Canadian funds. The drink is really filling, and tastes great.
We then went to see a movie, Mission Impossible 3, it was pretty good. Then after we went for a walk to the New York Pub in Chunghua, we had been here one time before but it was too early in the day, now however it was opened. As we walked in there was another North American enjoying a beer and talking to the female bartender. As Michelle and I enjoyed our Corona's, Michelle courageously struck up converastion with Art. A man here on business for 2 weeks, and guess where he's from??? Yep, good ole Saskatchewan! He works for some RV/Trailer company from Medicine Hat. We shared our Taiwan and travelling experiences over a few beers, and hung out for about 4 hours or so. We stayed so late, the buses had quit running, so we had to take a cab home. More expensive, but much more enjoyable than the bus. It was a great night.

Monday, May 15th:
We recieved Jody's parecl!!!! Hooray...goodbye to boring nights!!! Hello 20 DVD's....Jody, You rock!! The licorice has already been devoured. Thank you so much. So we watched "Walk the Line" and loved it! Grandma, thanks for the slippers!
I also started teaching a new private student. Her name is Sherry, she is graduating high school this year. Then going to visit her uncle in Canada for the summer, then moving to Taipei to become a dentist in the fall. Her English is very very good. I only teach her once a week for an hour and a half.

Wednesday, May 17th:
My Dad's Birthday!!! Happy Birthday Dad!
Had an excellent business meeting, thank goodness for the internet!
After school and supper watched "King Kong"
We are finally getting caught up on all the movies we missed during the excitement of our move here.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 18th: Talk both days of a huge typhoon hitting Taiwan. Many warnings issued! But it missed Taiwan and devastated China! Tons of damage, evacuations, and some people were killed. It was windy and rainy here but that's all. Enjoyed another movie... it's great having something to do or watch after school! Thanks again Jody.

Well it's now Friday night. It was a pretty good week. Went for a walk tonight hoping to strike up conversation with somebody...anybody, but even on a Friday night the streets of Homei are pretty quiet and boring.

However we have a weekend full of ideas and plans!!! So things are looking up!

Take Care, hope everyone has a great long weekend!
Jeff & Michelle
