April 20th

The watermelon is in season here. Big red watermelon and small round yellow watermelon. We were a little skeptical about the yellow watermelon, but it tastes really good too! We take a container of watermelon to snack on during our breaks.

Everyday we try to meet someone new. So Michelle came with me today and I introduced her to Shelly, the owner of the buffet. We met Shelly's mom too. Most businesses are family affairs here, wat more than in North America.
We went for more fried rice, but out of 20-30 different items, no freid rice. However to our advantage, Rita (Giant's wife, and school administrator) was there, and we asked her what a lot of the items were. So we tried some thin noodles, breaded fish, and tiny chicken balls..altogether it only cost $50NT...which is less than $2 Canadian. It all tasted good too!

Thursdays are our big days! We each teach 5 classes, from 1:20pm-9:40pm, with only short breaks in between, the longest break being 20 minutes.
Susan told me I might be getting a new private student on Mondays. She will confirm with me tomorrow. Sounds good to me...the more the better.

After school, we headed to the night market, on our bike ride there, this man slowly passed us, saying Hello, and every other English phrase he knew. He was laughing and having a good time, his name sounds like Thailand without the d. After a few exchanges he was gone, smiling and laughing as he biked away.

Tomorrow is Friday already--and no plans for the weekend yet--hopefully that changes!

Cheers,
Jeff
