Hooka...what's a hooka?!

That's what Michelle and I were saying when we headed into Tiachung one night to visit our friend Laura, and meet all her roomates and head out to a place called The Sahara Lounge....which serves "hookas".

We soon learned that everyone else but us knew what a hooka was. As you can see in the picture, it's a large decorative smoking apparatus for smoking flavored tabacco.

They had Peach or Apple flavored, we tried the apple flavored tabacco...it was quite smooth, and smelled and tasted a lot like apples. It was a good experience, it didn't smell like regular cigarettes at all.

Everybody takes turns smoking from the long blue tube, and you just pass the tube around. Under the brown lid on the top are super HOT coals, and as you inhale the flavored tabacco underneath the coals light up.

We really like Tiachung, and have even talked of moving there. It's a nice city.
